Behind the scenes

Whenever there is something great, there is always something or someone behind the scenes to make it great. This week I bring to you the most wonderful, loving, humble and caring ladies that dedicate every Saturday morning to waking up early and preparing an amazing lunch for the children in Choloma, Honduras.

I remember when we first jumped on board to be a part of this mission alongside our partners Ministerio Dios y la familia. I had no idea what to expect seeing these children or the community where they lived, but one thing’s for sure is I knew what my heart wanted right. That first Saturday that I went to meet them all, I was definitely nervous a bit because this was my first trip to Honduras after 18 years and of course cause my spanish is not the best. So when I got there I was introduced to the children and ladies that prepare their meals and man was I moved big time. The joy on the faces of the children when they finally were able to meet me, they hugged me like if they had knew me for years.

After my introduction was over, we then walked over to the area where all the preparing and cooking is done for the children and this is when I really got to see behind the scenes what happens. First thing that popped out to me was the cooking area, im sure some of you know that Honduras is a very hot and humid country mostly all year around so seeing these ladies cooking in a small enclosed shack using whatever pots and pans available at the time really hit me hard. Mind you, in this little shack there are normally 3 ladies doing different things while the others are either prepping the juice in a big Gatorade cooler or passing out food to the children.

All this is done with the biggest smile on their faces and fulfillment in their hearts. When I asked them why do you do this week in and week out? They replied back with because Jesus showed us that serving others and humility go hand in hand. Till this day these ladies continue to serve and love these children without any hesitation. I was honored to meet them, get to know them and would love the opportunity to serve them in return.

You ask how can we serve them? My wife and I were thinking of making them (7 total ladies) care packages. We would raise a certain amount of funds and have these care packages made in Honduras as a thank you for all they do.

If you are interested in participating alongside us and helping us create these care packages for the seven ladies, then please visit our donation portal. Also, if you want to participate in any of the other projects then please take a look at our other projects we currently have going on through our blogs. Finally, we want to thank you for all the support and continued to prayers for our organization. None of this would be possible without ALL of you.

THANK YOU
